Next generation Porsche 911 reveal in the ongoing Los Angeles Auto Show 2019 in Los Angeles. Porsche launched its legendary sports car Porsche 911 in the eight generation 2019 model.
The design of the eight generation Porsche 911 looks quite similar if you compare to the last seven generations, but if you take a closer look and inspect the design then you will notice the complete overhaul that this new gen Porsche 911 has taken.
The 2019 Porsche 911 internal structure has extensively re-engineered with a codenamed 992 by the Porsche. The eight generation 911 Porsche now features a new platform with a much more amount of aluminium has been used on the rear section of the sports car to improve weight distribution.
The chassis has also been revised by Porsche and for the first time both the Porsche 911 Carrera S and the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S comes with rear wheel steering. The German sports car manufacturer claims that this will give the Porsche 911 and added agility and it will improve the high-speed stability.
The design wise the eight generation Porsche 911 gets a little bit more muscular look than the previous generation model with the more pronounced wheel arches, the bonnet gives the reminiscent look from the earliest Porsche 911’s with the wide rear track remain unchanged.
At the front, it is wider by 45mm and slated a new horizontal grille design. The width is carried over to the rear with a much bigger rear spoiler, with a new cover for the engine bay and host the full length cool looking LED light bar with the OLED tail lights.
The headlights are equipped with the LED lamps with some upper variants will get the LED Matrix design headlamps including the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) and the High-Beam Assistant features.
The body shell is now all aluminium and gets the new electronic powered pop-up door handlebars. The wheel sizes go up with the eight generation model with the front gets 20-inch wheels and the rear gets the 21-inch wheels.
The dashboard now gets a much more angular design and now also gets a multi-function steering wheel with sports rotary response system making it the driver to change the driving modes whenever he/she wants to.
The instrument cluster has two high-resolution 7-inch display with the all-digital layout with the rev counter and the analogue tachometer featured. The new generation Porsche 911 also gets the all-new 10.9-inch touchscreen display with the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system and the navigation.
There’s also a Porsche Advanced Cockpit (PAC) control concept that gets a few partially touch-sensitive buttons. The centre console gets the newly designed gear liver with the new electronic handbrake switch.
The new gen Porsche 911 also features the all-new Wet mode a system is designed for recognizing the wettest road conditions. Furthermore, the system will also help on request whenever you need Adaptive Cruise Control or Park Assist with surround view.
The Porsche engineers revised the horizontally opposed engine to increase the power output on the new gen Porsche 911. The eight generation Porsche 911 gets the 3.0-litre water-cooled twin turbocharged boxer flat-six petrol engine which produces 443bhp of power at the 6,500rpm and the 390 lb-ft of torque at the 2,300 to 5,000rpm.
The 3.0 litre flat-six petrol engine is mated to an all-new 8-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) automatic gearbox. Currently, Porsche only showed two models of Porsche 911 with the Porsche 911 Carrera S with the rear-wheel drive and the faster version the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S with all-wheel drive.
The sports car manufacturer claims that the Porsche 911 Carrera S 0-60 reached at 3.7 seconds with the top speed of 307kmph and the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S 0-60 reached at 3.6 seconds with the top speed of 305kmph.
Porsche sale both these models in the international market with the Porsche 911 Carrera S priced at the US $113,300 (ex-showroom, US) which is roughly INR 79,04,941 lakh and the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S is priced at the US $120,600 (ex-showroom, US) which is INR 84,14,262.
It is expected that Porsche will soon launch both the Porsche 911 Carrera S and the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S eight generation models in the Indian market within the next year. It will go head to head with likes of Mercedes Benz AMG GT and the Audi R8.
