Maruti Suzuki Swift crosses 20 lakh sales milestone in the Indian market since the first generation Swift which was launched in 2005 the company officially announced today.
The Swift is the first premium hatchback from Maruti Suzuki to launch in the Indian market back in 2005. Since its launch, the Maruti Suzuki Swift has seen three generations in the Indian market.
The current generation Maruti Suzuki Swift is based on the Maruti Suzuki’s Heartect platform. First launched at the Auto Expo 2018 in Delhi the third generation model retained its iconic design but with a more of global design character taking it to the next level.
Maruti Suzuki also stated that the current generation Swift achieved 1,00,000 lakh sales booking within the less than the ten weeks which makes the Swift the fastest model to achieve this record.
And in these 1,00,000 lakh sales bookings the AGS (Auto Gear Shift) model contributes the 20 per cent of the sales bookings.
This phenomenal response and demand saw the company to increase the production of the third generation Maruti Suzuki Swift up to 45 per cent to achieve 1,39,000 units during the time period of April 18 to October 18 compared against the April 17 to October 17.
The first generation Maruti Suzuki Swift achieve the 5 lakh sales milestone on the month of September 10, after that the second generation Maruti Suzuki Swift was launched in 2011 the which achieve the 10 lakh sales milestone on the month of September 13 and the 15 lakh sales milestone on the month of March 16.
The dimension of current generation Swift measures 3,840mm at length, 1,735mm at width, 1,530mm at height and the overall wheelbase is 2,450mm.
The current generation Maruti Suzuki Swift is offered in two engine options, one being petrol engine and the second one being a diesel engine.
The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces a healthy 83bhp of power at 6,000rpm and the 113nm of torque at 4,200rpm. The 1.3-litre diesel engine produces 71bhp of power at 4,000rpm and the 190nm of torque at 2,000rpm.
Both engines come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and the 5-speed AGS (Auto Gear Shift) gearbox.
