Maruti Suzuki launches the new Ertiga at a starting price of Rs 7.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The second generation model of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is being offered in total ten variants with top-spec variant comes with a diesel engine priced at Rs 10.90 lakh.
The Ertiga MPV will be offered with two engine options with two petrol manual, two petrol automatic and one diesel manual. Since its only been a day for the second generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga’s launched the waiting period has already climbed up to two to four weeks for the petrol and diesel variants.
The all-new second-generation Ertiga is based on the Heartect platform that also does the duty on the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
The Ertiga measures at 4,395mm long, 1,690mm height and 1,735mm wide with a wheelbase of 2,740mm. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has a turning radius of 5.31 meters and has 42 litres of a fuel tank. The Ertiga also shed some weight of up to 10kg to 20kg.
The Ertiga’s exterior changes include the bold new front fascia and now comes equipped with the double barrel trapezoidal projector headlights. The front grille grows slightly larger than the previous generation model and has a heavy chrome finished to it.
The bonnet looks all-new as well as the new front bumper with some aggressive styling and there are some few prominent creases surrounding the fog lamps.
But the biggest change, however, is in the third-row glass area which looks much larger than the previous generation model and has a blacked out panel to reduce the visual mass at the rear end.
Much like the front the rear also completely re-designed with the biggest change comes from the all-new LED tail lights which are larger now. The windscreen at the back is more raked and sits on top of a new tailgate design.
There’s also a chrome strip that goes through the length of a tailgate and the rear bumper is a just simple design which has a nice look. The Ertiga’s interior comes with a beige colour and wood finish and gives the cabin a very roomy and spacious feel to it.
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga’s powertrain comes from the all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine which made its debuts in Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces a healthy 105bhp at 6,000rpm and the 130nm of torque at 4,400rpm.
And then there’s the same old 1.3-litre diesel engine which is sourced from FCA which makes a healthy 90bhp of power at 4,400rpm and the 200nm of torque at 1,750rpm.
Both engines come equipped with SHVS (smart hybrid vehicle by Suzuki) technology, which Maruti Suzuki claims that it provides much better fuel efficiency. Both engines will be offered with two transmission options, the first one being 5-speed manual gearbox and the other one being a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The all-new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will come with well-equipped features such as Maruti Suzuki’s Smart Play Infotainment System with Apple Carplay, Android Auto and Navigation. There’s also a push button start and stop, rear parking sensors with a rearview camera, automatic climate control, 15-inch alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel with height adjustable front driver seat.
On the safety front, the dual airbags and ABS will be standard across all variants. The automatic version will also get hill hold assist and ESP. Sadly the all-new Ertiga does miss out some features such as LED headlamps with daytime running lights and diamond cut alloy wheels.
The booking for the new Ertiga has already commenced and the deliveries begin to start by the end of this month. The Ertiga will be sold through Maruti Suzuki’s Arena showrooms throughout the country.
