A couple of years ago Mahindra Rise expresses that they are thinking towards entering in the premium SUV segment in India.
And after that Mahindra Alturas made its debut at this year’s Auto Expo 2018 at Delhi, Mahindra Rise showcase their version of Ssangyong Rexton with some re-engineered design and featured elements for the Indian market.
Mahindra Alturas SUV the rebadged version of the Ssangyong Rexton has been officially confirmed to launch on 24 November.
And that the pre-bookings for the Alturas SUV have already begun and deliveries expected to commence in the month of December.
This will be the Mahindra’s flagship SUV in their portfolio and the biggest too. It will go head to head with Toyota Fortuner which is a best seller in this segment and the mighty powerful Ford Endeavour.
The Mahindra Alturas will be made at Mahindra’s manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune, Maharashtra. Mahindra Alturas will sit above Mahindra XUV 500.
The Alturas SUV will be powered by 2.2 litres Diesel engine which produces 180bhp and 450nm of torque. And this engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox sourced from Mercedes Benz that will send power to all four wheels.
A 6-speed manual gearbox that is offered in international markets which seems unlikely to launch in India. Mahindra Alturas will be offered in two variants first being a G2 variant which will come with 2WD and the G4 top spec variant will be equipped with the fully loaded 4WD system.
As far as features list goes, it will be equipped with HID beam headlights, electric sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats with memory function, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with android auto and apple carplay, 9 airbags and an electric parking brake.
The all new Mahindra Alturas has a much better design, looks more mature and has more dynamically competent car than the previous generation Rexton.
Mahindra Alturas is expected to be priced around 30 plus lakhs (ex-showroom) but the official prices are yet to be announced.
The prices will be revealed during the Mahindra Alturas launched.
